Today we are talking about Cleanser ! My top five favourite cleanser to be exact. I have a new plan for the blog this year and on Mondays I am hoping to share all of my top five faves! Like I said, today we are going to start with cleanser. Those of you that follow me on Instagram here or Snapchat @louiseocon.ie, will know I love skincare. I am always trying new products. Since I turned 36 and feel that I am barreling towards forty, I am trying to look after my skin!! These are the cleansers I would recommend to a friend and have recommended time and time again. So here are my five most used cleanser products.
Cleanser No 1: Nimue Cleansing Gel
This was the first wash off cleanser that I fell in love with. In fact, it was the first wash off cleanser that I used full stop. I had a terrible skin routine. Wipe of cleansers or remover wipes (gasp!) and that was if I took my makeup off at all. Over a year ago I started going to a local salon (Jen’s Beauty Rooms in Passage, Cork) and she turned me on to Nimue. I started with a sample size and went from there. I haven’t looked back since. Not only does this get my skin really clean, it is non drying and doesn’t irritate my face. Winning. Find your nearest stockist here.
Cleanser No 2: Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Cleanser
Image is a brand I was introduced to in the later half of 2017. This is the first of their cleansers that I have tried and I am using this more and more. I always thought I had oily skin but when I went for a consult in Therapie and had my skin analysed, I discovered my skin was actually super dry! I introduced this cleanser at night time and I really enjoy it. Again, it doesn’t leave my skin tight, feels nice and creamy and rinses off easily. If you wear a lot of heavy makeup I would recommend a double cleanse when using this one as it doesn’t foam up and I just feel my skin is cleanser rinsing twice.
Cleanser No 3: Human and Kind Wash Off Cleanser
Full of natural ingredients like aloe vera and cocoa butter, this product is beautiful to use. It is non foaming so perfect for dry or sensitive skin and conveniently comes with a really soft cloth to wipe the cream off with. This leaves your skin clean and soft without irritation. It costs 14.95 and you can purchase here. I would check out the rest of the range too as I love the shower mousse, body oil and family remedy cream.
Cleanser No 4: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Firstly let me start by saying I wish they would rename this product ‘warm cloth cleanser’ or ‘wash off cleanser’ as I do not recommend anyone to apply a hot cloth to their face. Unless enlarged capillaries and redness is the look you are going for. Outside of the name, this is actually a really nice product to use. It smells so good and does a great job at removing makeup. The cloths that you use with the product feel like they gentle exfoliate the skin. They could be ever so slightly softer but I am just nit picking. The scent is due to eucalyptus, cocoa butter and rosemary. When I use this, it almost feels like a spa treatment. You get a generous sized bottle and 2 muslin cloths for 20.75 euro here.
Cleanser No 5: Primark Beauty Hot Cloth Cleanser
Again, looking past the name, this wash off cleanser is great for the price. You really can’t find too much fault with a product that delivers and with a price tag of 6 euro. Bearing that in mind, it doesn’t include a cloth but you can buy Primark ones for a couple of euro. I used this for the whole month of October when I was working with Primark on their skincare campaign and it was one of my favourite products. I have a video on the whole range over on my Youtube channel here.
Special Mentions
I have to mention the following products as they are always included in my skincare routine. The Dermalogica Pre Cleanse balm is a new addition and one of my favourite discoveries in 2017. It is a balm that emulsifies with water and amazing at breaking down makeup, leaving skin ready for your cleanser. The balm comes with a little mitt that really works the product into the skin. I love it!!! Not promoting miscellaire water as a way of fully cleansing skin but if you need a quick freshen up in the mornings or after the gym, the Bioderma one is one of the best I’ve used. I have purchased and repurchased this several times over.
There you have my thoughts on my top five favourite cleansing products! Is there a favourite of yours not on the list? What should I try next?
