The Holy Smoke is a new addition to the Cork food scene and tonight I thought I’d write a little review on it. A few weeks ago we had a rare date night. Deciding we wanted something a bit different and informal, we headed for The Holy Smoke. Situated on Sheares Street, Cork City it is an easy walk from Washington Street. They boast 100% Irish Meat that has been pit smoked for between four and sixteen hours. Not bad!
The Decor
The whole place is decorated with scrubbed wood and low lighting. The kitchen is in full view of the dining room and very clean. The tables and lighting give the place a rustic, informal feel. You immediately feel at ease and looking forward to your meal.
Holy Smoke Menu
There is something for everyone on this menu. All of your BBQ favourites are available. From chicken to ribs to pulled pork. You can chose from burgers, meat trays, salads and vegetarian options. A delicious range of cocktails, deserts and soft drinks are also on offer! You can read the menu for yourself HERE.
The Food
Now the most important part. The food!! We ordered the BBQ Blow Out. At 29.50 euro you get a sharing platter for two with a little bit of everything on the menu. Burnt Brisket Ends, Chicken, Ribs, Pulled Pork and Hot Links Sausage. All served with coleslaw, corn on the cob and corn bread on a family style tray. We also ordered fries and bone marrow mash as extra sides. Each and every component was delicious. The burnt ends were my favourite. Full of flavour and meltingly tender. The mash was delicious!! We were so full we couldn’t manage desert but I did sneak in a few cocktails. I loved the raspberry mojito. So so good!!
The Verdict
If you are looking for a relaxed but tasty dining experience then I would recommend a visit to Holy Smoke. The food was great, the service friendly and the price point fair for the quality of food. Where should we try next?
