Today we are celebrating our first wedding anniversary. This day last year I married the love of my life and I’m grateful for him everyday. He’s my best friend. Anyway, what better time to share a few of our wedding tips than today! It was important for us to have a wedding that was super personal to us. We wanted everything to say “Padraig and Louise” and I think we achieved that. I love our wedding day and there’s not one thing I would have changed.
Our venue was Barnabrow House. We wanted a small, intimate venue that we could personalise and we found all of that and more in Barnabrow. It’s so romantic and the food was delicious. The country feel was perfect for what we wanted to achieve and the whole place is full of charm.
My dress was from Moderne Bridal and my amazing dress maker Maya O Brien customised it with the beautiful embellished sleeves. My Juliette Cap Veil was from Bella Bleu. I had searched for my perfect vintage style veil and I think this was my favourite part of the whole look. Padraig wore a suit from Best Menswear Mahon Point with a custom made bow tie by Daniel Mahon. The bridesmaid dress was from Brocade and Lime. Our bridal bouquets and button holes were made by Lovebird Designs.
We dressed our little men in Zara and Cons.
Our little princess wore a flower crown and a flower wand ❤️
My make up was done by the beautiful Michelle. You should check out her FB page for your next event. She’s amazing!!
Customising the venue was all down to us. We spent months gathering candles, lace, vintage books, jars etc… It was all worth while. I love how it all came together. I decorated the tables myself and arranged my own flowers for them. We bought the flowers in Aldi and Tesco and spent a few hours adding them to the jars we collected.
Our table plan was based around old romantic movies and printed by our fab Brother In Law. I used frames that I bought in Dealz to display them.
Our cake was by the fabulous Denise of Denise’s Delights. She gave us the most beautiful Birdcage Style cake that was delish to boot! She also sang for us during our ceremony. I walked down the aisle to Songbird by Fleetwood Mac and we left as husband wife to Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Roses. Our band was The Art Crimes Band who played At Last by Etta James as our first dance. Then we had an old school disco afterwards by Stevie G finishing up with The Ball and Chain (you’ll know it if you are from Cork!)
We bought an old fashioned record player so our guests could play some records during our drinks reception.
Our wedding favours were these chocolate lollipops with moustaches for males and lips for females. I got these from The Chocolate Fairy.
Last and not least our amazing photographer was Dermot Sullivan. I can’t recommend him highly enough!!
So that’s it you guys! It all came together with the help of our family and friends. Adding a personal touch really makes the day your own. Don’t be afraid to get out the glue sticks! I made all our bunting out of twine and paper doilies, and glued lace round our candles. Experiment!!!
